Questions & Answers

Everything inventors
want to know.

We know you have questions before trusting us with your idea. Good. You should. Here are honest answers to all of them.

Privacy & Security
Will my idea show up in Google search results or be visible to other people online? โ–ผ

Absolutely not. Your idea will never appear in any search engine, not Google, not Bing, not any other. Here is exactly why:

  • Your worksheet answers are stored in a private, encrypted database accessible only to you through your account.
  • We do not publish, index, or expose user-submitted content anywhere on our website.
  • Search engines like Google only index publicly visible web pages. Your idea is never on a public page.
  • No other user of our platform, or anyone else on the internet, can find or access what you submitted.

Think of it like a locked filing cabinet that only you have the key to. The filing cabinet is in a locked room. The locked room is in a secured building. Your idea goes nowhere.

Can other AI tools like ChatGPT or Google Gemini access my idea? โ–ผ

No. Other AI tools have zero access to your idea. Here is the complete picture of how our AI works and why your idea stays isolated:

  • We use Claude by Anthropic as our AI engine, accessed through a private API (Application Programming Interface), not the public Claude.ai website.
  • An API call is a direct, private, encrypted connection between our server and Anthropic's server. It is not a public submission. It is not browsable. It does not feed any public search system.
  • ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Grok, and all other AI tools are completely separate systems with no connection to Anthropic's API and no access to what you submitted to us.
  • Your idea is never published to the internet, never indexed by any search engine, and never fed into any AI training dataset.

The AI analysis is like a private phone call between our platform and the AI. No one is listening in. No recording is kept. No one else on the internet can access that conversation.

Could my idea be used to train future AI models? โ–ผ

No. This is one of our most important commitments and it is written explicitly into our Terms of Use:

"Your worksheet answers are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any artificial intelligence model, by us or by our AI provider."

When businesses access Claude through Anthropic's API (as we do), Anthropic's own policy prohibits using those API inputs for model training. This is a key difference between:

  • Consumer AI tools (free public chatbots), where your conversations may be used to improve the model
  • Business API access (what we use), where your data is explicitly protected from model training

We chose the API approach specifically to give your idea this protection.

Who at Your Idea To Market can see my idea? โ–ผ

Our database is configured with Row Level Security, a technical safeguard that ensures each user's data is only readable by that user's own account credentials. General staff cannot browse user ideas through normal database access.

The only time a staff member might view your data is if you report a technical problem and specifically ask for support, in which case access would be limited to the minimum necessary to resolve the issue.

We take the position that your idea is none of our business beyond generating your analysis. We built the platform that way on purpose.

What happens to my data if I delete my account? โ–ผ

When you delete your account, all associated data including your worksheet answers, analysis reports, and account information is permanently deleted from our database within 30 days.

We recommend downloading your PDF report before deleting your account if you want to keep a copy. Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.

You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard, or by emailing support@yourideatomarket.com.

How the AI Works
What AI is used to analyze my idea, and how does it work? โ–ผ

We use Claude by Anthropic, one of the most capable and safety-focused AI models available. When you submit your worksheet:

  1. Your answers are compiled into a structured analysis request.
  2. This request is sent to Claude via a private, encrypted API connection, not through any public website.
  3. Claude analyzes your answers against its knowledge of markets, product development, patent landscapes, and business strategy.
  4. A structured report is returned and displayed to you, and saved to your account if you are logged in.

The entire process takes 10โ€“30 seconds. The AI has no memory of your submission after the analysis is complete. Each analysis is a fresh, isolated request.

How accurate is the AI analysis? โ–ผ

The analysis is a highly informed starting point, not a guaranteed prediction. Think of it as having a knowledgeable business consultant review your idea based on the information you provided.

It is good at:

  • Identifying market patterns and competitive dynamics
  • Spotting logical gaps or weaknesses in your approach
  • Recommending whether to build vs. license based on your specific profile
  • Suggesting realistic next steps matched to your budget and skills

It has limitations:

  • Market size estimates are approximations, not certified research
  • Patent analysis is preliminary, not a legal opinion
  • The quality of the analysis depends heavily on the quality and detail of your answers

Always use the report as a starting point for further research, not as a final decision. Before major investments, consult a patent attorney and business advisor.

Does the AI remember my idea after my analysis is done? โ–ผ

No. The AI has no persistent memory between sessions. Each analysis request is completely independent. Once your report is generated, the AI has no recollection of your idea.

Your idea is stored only in our database under your account, not in any AI system. The AI is simply the engine that processes your worksheet once and returns a result. It does not retain a copy.

What is the difference between using Your Idea To Market and just asking ChatGPT about my idea? โ–ผ

There are several important differences worth knowing:

  • Structured analysis: Our platform uses a 16-section research framework specifically designed for inventors. A general chatbot gives generic responses. We give a structured, scored, multi-dimensional report.
  • Privacy: When you type your idea into a free public AI tool, that conversation may be used to improve their model. Our API-based approach protects your idea from training use.
  • Inventor-specific outputs: Build vs. license recommendation, skills gap analysis, patent landscape overview, and branding suggestions are all purpose-built for inventors โ€” not generic advice.
  • Saved & returnable: Your report is saved to your account. You can return to it, download it as PDF, and build on it over time.
  • Consistency: Our structured prompt ensures every inventor gets the same comprehensive analysis framework every time.

The Process
Do I need to have my idea fully developed to use this? โ–ผ

No, earlier is actually better. Our platform is designed for the beginning of the inventor journey, not the end. You don't need a prototype, a business plan, or a patent.

What you do need is a clear sense of: what problem you're solving, who has the problem, and roughly how your product would be different from what already exists. The worksheet guides you through discovering those answers if you haven't thought them through yet.

Many inventors find that filling out the worksheet for the first time reveals gaps in their thinking. That's exactly the point.

How long does the worksheet take to complete? โ–ผ

It depends on how much research you've already done:

  • Quick run-through (30โ€“45 minutes): Answer from what you already know. You'll get a useful analysis, but some areas may be less detailed.
  • Thorough approach (2โ€“4 hours over a few days): Do the Amazon review research, check competitor prices, think carefully about your skills assessment. The more specific your answers, the more valuable your report.

We offer a downloadable Excel version of the worksheet so you can fill it in offline at your own pace, save it, do research, come back to it โ€” and upload when ready. No time pressure.

Can I analyze more than one idea? โ–ผ

Yes. With an account, you can submit and save multiple ideas. Each gets its own worksheet, its own analysis, and its own report. Your dashboard shows all your ideas so you can compare them side by side.

Each idea submission is treated as a completely separate, confidential record. Idea A has no connection to Idea B in our system.

Each full report is $29 per idea. The free summary is always free for every idea you submit.

What if I want to update my worksheet after submitting? โ–ผ

You can return to any saved worksheet and update your answers, then re-submit for a fresh analysis. This is especially useful as your research improves. Your first submission might be based on initial assumptions, and a second submission after real market research will produce a much richer report.

If you've already purchased the full report for an idea, updating and resubmitting generates a new analysis at no additional charge.

IP & Legal
Do I need a patent before I submit my idea? โ–ผ

No. Most inventors use our platform before filing anything. That's the whole point. Our analysis helps you decide whether the idea is worth pursuing and which path (build vs. license) makes the most sense before you spend money on patents.

That said, if you believe your product has a genuinely novel technical mechanism, we recommend filing a Provisional Patent Application (USPTO, roughly $320 micro-entity fee) before sharing detailed technical specs with anyone, including us. A provisional establishes your priority date for 12 months while you continue developing.

Our analysis includes a patent landscape overview to help you understand the IP environment around your idea.

Does submitting my idea to Your Idea To Market affect my patent rights? โ–ผ

No. Submitting to our platform does not constitute public disclosure. Your submission is private and confidential under our Terms of Use. It is not published, indexed, or accessible to any third party.

Public disclosure, which can affect patent rights, occurs when an invention is described in a published document, presented publicly, sold, or offered for sale. None of those things happen when you submit your worksheet to us.

โš ๏ธ Important: This is not legal advice. For specific patent questions about your invention, consult a registered patent attorney or agent. We can recommend next steps in your report, but we are not a law firm.

Is there an NDA between me and Your Idea To Market? โ–ผ

Yes, in the form of a binding confidentiality commitment built into our Terms of Use, which you agree to when creating an account.

Section 2 of our Terms is written as a formal confidentiality covenant stating that we will:

  • Hold your idea in strict confidence and never disclose it to any third party
  • Use your idea only to generate your analysis, for no other purpose
  • Never commercially exploit, patent, or reproduce your idea
  • Never use your idea to train any AI model

This obligation survives account termination indefinitely. Even if you close your account, we are still bound by it.

A traditional paper NDA is not practical for a web platform (you can't sign before you've entered anything), but our Terms create the same legal protections in a form that actually works for digital services.

Is the analysis legal or financial advice? โ–ผ

No. Our analysis reports are for informational and educational purposes only. They are not:

  • Legal advice or a legal opinion on patentability
  • Financial advice or an investment recommendation
  • A guarantee of commercial success
  • A certified market research report

Think of it as a knowledgeable friend with broad business experience giving you their honest take on your idea. Valuable advice, but always consult qualified professionals before making major financial or legal decisions.
